What Are Pallet Weighing Beams?
Pallet weighing beams are a kind of portable scale. Each scale has two strip support beams that connect to a small electronic weighing scale.
When you want to use the scales, you lay out the two beams parallel to each other on the floor. You set the appropriate distance between them for the size of the item you'll weigh. For example, if you're weighing a pallet, then you position the beams so that they will support it on two of its edges.
You then use your forklift or pallet truck to drop the pallet on to the beams. Once you've measured the weight, you lift the pallet off the scale again.
What Are the Advantages of Using Pallet Weighing Beams?
Pallet weighing beams are smaller and more portable than other scales. They are easy to store away when you aren't using them. The two beams don't take up much room at all compared to larger platform scales.
These scales are also easy to set up. All you have to do is to put each support beam on the floor, position it to suit the item you'll weigh, and turn the scales on. Some devices also have wheels to make them easier to move if you need to take the scales to your pallets rather than the other way round. You get a more mobile solution than heavier fixed scales that need a permanent home.
If you can move your scales around your warehouse, then you can weigh items more quickly. This could improve your dispatch times. Beams also give you a more versatile solution than you might get with other industrial weighing scales. For example, if you use a platform scale, then you might not be able to accurately weigh items that don't fit inside the platform's footprint.
However, you choose where the beams on a pallet scale go on the floor. You create the size of base you need. So, you can easily weigh items of all shapes and sizes as long as they fit within the scale's weight limits. As well as weighing your pallets, you can also use these scales to weigh other boxes, containers and crates.
